In my practice, my first goal is to help people to feel some relief from their current emotional pain and to consider how we will work on the problems or conflicts that they face.  My focus is on trying to understand each person from within his or her own individual experience and to help them to access their own emotional reactions and a deeper understanding and compassion for themselves. I also believe that the therapy relationship is very important.  An open relationship with a good emotional connection can provide support for the challenges that each person faces.   It also provides an opportunity to observe relational patterns and to develop more satisfying ways of being with other people. This very personal way of connecting usually helps people to discover new aspects of themselves that can bring them more joy, spontaneity and emotional richness.
